3-year-old child dies in car accident near Belleville

Any fatal accident is sad, but when it involves a 3-year-old child, it becomes truly tragic. On Oct. 16, the child was killed near Belleville, Illinois, when the van he was riding in went out of control and he was thrown from the vehicle. The woman driving the van was rushing the boy to the hospital after he had sustained a facial injury at home. Besides the accidental death of the child, the accident also injured two other people who were in the van.

Head-on collision leaves three people dead

A tragic scene unfolded the morning of Oct. 11, when a van carrying developmentally disabled residents of an adult rehabilitation center was struck head-on, leaving three people dead. Fulton County, Illinois, police determined that a 25-year-old man driving west on Illinois Route 9 in a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer crossed the center line and struck the 1998 Ford passenger van. The driver of the Blazer was pronounced dead at the scene, along with two women, ages 49 and 51, who were riding in the van.

Belleville man guilty in fatal car accident

A Belleville, Illinois, man has pled guilty in a deadly drunk driving car accident that left one man dead and another seriously injured. The accident happened Dec. 10, 2010. The man's guilty plea was accepted in St. Clair County Circuit Court. The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, pleaded to reckless homicide as well as aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol. The man injured in the car accident was a passenger in the accused man's vehicle.

Parents of infant injured in car accident initiate lawsuit

It can be devastating to parents when their child is injured in a car accident, especially when the child is only a 1-year-old infant. Even more difficult is the ability to makes immediate assessments of the extent of the injuries for a child who is incapable of articulating their pain.
