Every daughter deserves a lifetime of being daddy's little girl. Unfortunately, the 1-year-old daughter of a St. Louis man fatally shot and killed by police will never have that chance. Attorneys for the toddler recently filed a wrongful death suit in federal court against the accused police officer and the St. Louis Police Board.

Residents in Southern Illinois may know that some jobs are especially risky and thus more liable to result in injuries requiring a workers' compensation claim. But the truth is that virtually every occupation involves certain situations that pose the risk of workplace injury.

Truck driver suffers serious injuries in Washington County crash

Sometimes the full extent of injuries sustained in an auto accident is not known until weeks, months or even years after the crash. And as many people in Southern Illinois have found out the hard way, serious injuries can accumulate symptoms and pains as time goes on. That is why insurance companies often try to settle early with what might seem at first like a fair offer. But sometimes those early settlements are merely the insurance company's attempt to prevent an injured person from suing after the full extent of the injuries becomes clear. Knowing this, many people who have been seriously injured in a car accident seek the help of a legal professional who can help ensure that the awarded compensation doesn't run out while the injured person is still suffering.

Highway patrol gives tips after fatal truck accident in St. Louis

After receiving a call from a friend who had run out of gas, a 67-year-old man in the St. Louis area drove to a section of road on Interstate 55 to help. The man pulled his vehicle in front of his friend's, which was parked on the left shoulder of the roadway. The 67-year-old was putting gas in his friend's car when he was struck by an 18-wheeler that was travelling in the far left lane. The truck driver told police that he hadn't seen the victim before the collision. Sadly, the 67-year-old man died as a result of his injuries.
