A late winter weekend evening in Illinois turned deadly after a string of car accidents. Each of the car accident tragedies ended with death and injury to its victims. In one of the incidents, a young passenger died.

According to a report, a car driven by a 26-year-old woman was travelling on Route 15. For reasons that may include icy road conditions, she lost control of her vehicle. The car began to spin and crossed into oncoming traffic. Once there, it struck two vehicles. The impact caused the death of a passenger, an 18-year-old girl.

Icy road conditions may also have caused the deaths of the victims in two other car accidents that took place within minutes of the first crash. In each, family members died as a result of the collisions. It is unclear if other factors came into play to cause these events.

The surviving family of the victim that died in the first car accident may be able to make a claim for wrongful death under Illinois personal injury laws. Such claims are available in many cases where an individual died as a result of the negligent actions of another. When a collision results in death or serious injury, those impacted will likely benefit from a careful review of their rights and responsibilities. A successfully litigated claim could result in a reimbursement of monetary damages sustained due to the wrongdoing of another party. Nothing can change the tragic outcome, but financial restitution may help a family from suffering a financial tragedy as well.
