Illinois readers may be interested to learn about a recent incident that happened in another state. Three people, including a pilot, were in a helicopter flying over a river when the helicopter fell from the sky. The two individuals who were passengers in the incident were injured. These serious injuries may lead one or both of them to make a claim using their state's workers' compensation program.

Workers' compensation is an important benefit to people in Illinois and throughout the country. When a worker is injured on the job, many find that they are unable to return to work for an extended periods of time. This can lead to economic losses, including the inability to pay for basic needs such as food and housing as well as medical costs. Using workers' compensation, such payments can be made until a person is able to return to full employment.

In the recent incident, the injured people were employed by their state's Fish and Wildlife Department. Reports indicate that they were on the job monitoring fisheries when the crash happened. This will likely lead to their ability to make a claim for benefits.

If the injured are permanently unable to return to their former employment, they may find that they qualify for lifetime benefits. The criteria for this type of claim can appear complicated to some people in Illinois. Because of this, it can do well for these individuals to seek information about the workers' compensation program as well as advice from those who are experienced with the process.
