When an accident on the roadway takes place, other drivers may instinctually attempt to avoid involvement in the accident. Unfortunately, a car accident could still occur when a driver tries to avoid the initial collision. In such a situation, a driver may wonder if they could pursue compensation for injuries suffered in a resulting accident.

Two individuals on a motorcycle may be wondering about their legal options after they were injured in a crash in Illinois. Reports stated that an initial accident took place when a sedan was attempting to merge onto the eastbound interstate from the northbound Interstate. Unfortunately, the merge was unsuccessful and the sedan collided with a semi-truck.

The sedan then traveled into the westbound side of the Interstate. The motorcycle driver reportedly tried to avoid the wreckage, and as a result, the motorcycle crashed into a guardrail. Both riders on the motorcycle were transported from the scene due to injuries. It was not reported whether any of the other parties involved were injured. The driver of the sedan was charged for improper lane usage.

In some cases, a car accident may not be able to be avoided. As this situation shows, injuries can result even when trying to not be involved in a crash. The injured parties could potentially face considerable medical expenses as they receive treatment for their injuries. As a result, they may wish to explore their options to determine whether they may be able to pursue compensation against the driver deemed at fault by filing personal injury claims in Illinois.
