Many individuals know that a situation that may seem under control can quickly take a turn for the worst. For example, if a driver is traveling at a high rate of speed, he or she may believe that the car can be kept under control. Unfortunately, fatal accidents often result from drivers losing control due to excessive speed. Families of victims involved in such accidents are frequently left facing emotional and monetary losses.

A recent accident in Illinois led to the death of two teenage individuals. It was reported that the individuals were riding in a vehicle that had allegedly been stolen a couple of days earlier. At the time of the accident, the driver was apparently traveling 75 mph, which was 30 mph over the posted speed limit for the area. The driver then apparently lost control and struck a pole.

Two passengers suffered fatal injuries and were declared dead on site. The driver and another passenger were treated for injuries at an area hospital. At this time, the driver of the vehicle is facing charges for reckless homicide as well as an allegation for the stolen vehicle.

The families of the victims could potentially face considerable hardships following the fatal accident. Because funeral arrangements can be quite costly, the families may face monetary losses on top of their emotional upheavals. As a result, they could potentially wish to file wrongful death claims against the driver deemed at fault in order to strive for compensation for such losses and other damages permissible under Illinois law.
