Hit and run accidents are situations that take place more often than some drivers realize. Unfortunately, when drivers leave the scenes of car or motorcycle accidents, the situation becomes more complicated. Authorities must determine what caused the crash to take place and also locate all parties that were involved. When a hit and run driver is located, that individual will likely face criminal charges.

A hit and run crash recently took place in Illinois, and the incident involved a car and a motorcycle. Reports stated that the car crossed into the opposite lanes of travel and collided with the motorcycle. The motorcycle was carrying two individuals at the time of the crash. The driver of the car reportedly exited the vehicle and left the scene on foot.

The situation resulted in both individuals on the motorcycle suffering fatal injuries. The victims were reported at being a male who was 42 years old and a female who was 37 years old. The driver of the other vehicle had not been apprehended by authorities at the time of the report. An investigation should continue, and it is likely the driver will face charges when he or she is located.

It is always a tragedy when motorcycle accidents result in a fatality, and family members of the victim or victims may be left seeking answers. When the driver considered at fault for the accident is located, those family members may wish to file civil claims for wrongful death against that individual. Such claims could lead to parties seeking reparations for funeral costs, emotional losses and other damages permitted under Illinois law.
