Individuals who do not follow the laws of the road could put themselves and other parties in danger. If drivers operate a vehicle recklessly or negligently, they may end up involved in a crash that could cause injury or death for innocent individuals. Motorcycle accidents can be particularly dangerous due to the lack of surrounding protection for cyclists, and injured parties may have cause to file legal claims.

It was recently reported that an Illinois accident involving a motorcycle had devastating results. The motorcycle was carrying two individuals when the driver attempted to pass a car in front of it. The area in which the vehicles were traveling was a no passing zone, and as the biker attempted to pass, the car tried to make a left turn. Unfortunately, the motorcycle and car collided.

The driver of the motorcycle was declared dead at the scene after suffering fatal injuries. The passenger was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered critical injuries. She was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the car was also taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. An investigation into the incident will likely continue.

The impacts of motorcycle accidents that lead to such tragic results may be felt for a considerable amount of time, in some cases a lifetime. The critically injured passenger may have a long road ahead in dealing with her recovery. In addition to the pain and suffering resulting from her injuries, she may also face financial hardships relating to medical expenses. Though the driver of the motorcycle was killed in the Illinois crash, the injured parties may still be able to seek compensation from the estate of the driver who appears to have been at fault.
