When a vehicle overturns, it is not unlikely that the individuals inside will suffer injuries. These injuries can range from minor to fatal depending on various factors pertaining to the incident. Nonetheless, if an individual is seriously injured or killed in a car accident, he, she or the victim's family may have cause to explore their legal options.
A recent accident in Illinois could potentially lead to such action. It was reported that an SUV traveling the roadway overturned at approximately 4:30 a.m. There were apparently six individuals in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Details on the incident were few, and it is unclear what may have caused the SUV to flip. The situation led to road closure for a few hours.
One individual was reported as having suffered fatal injuries and was described as a 20-year-old female. Five other individuals were transported from the scene due to injuries. They were considered to be in serious to critical condition. Authorities are continuing to investigate the situation, and more information about the fatal incident may be available at a later time.
When a car accident leads to such serious outcomes, understanding how the incident took place is a top priority. Authorities will need to determine who may have been at fault for the crash and how it took place. Once an individual is deemed responsible, those who were seriously injured and/or the family of the deceased victim may wish to consider filing civil claims in order to seek compensation for damages permissible under Illinois law.
