Areas where multiple roads intersect are often the scenes of serious accidents. When a car accident takes place at an intersection, authorities will likely have to determine who had the right-of-way and who may have been at fault for the incident. This information could play a role in any civil claims that could potentially arise from such an event.

It was reported that a recent accident in Illinois led to the death of one individual. Apparently, a pickup truck was traveling west when the truck collided with a car that was traveling north. There was one individual -- a 63-year-old male -- in the pickup truck at the time of the accident. There was a 78-year-old woman and an 81-year-old male in the other car involved.

The situation led to the 81-year-old man suffering fatal injuries. The woman was also injured, but her injuries were not considered to be life-threatening. The pickup truck driver was not injured in the crash. It was unclear which driver may have been at fault for the accident, and it was not mentioned whether any citations may have been issued. Authorities will likely continue investigating the accident.

If the driver of the pickup truck is considered at fault for the car accident, the family of the deceased victim may wish to file a wrongful death claim against him. This type of claim could allow them to work toward gaining compensation for monetary and emotional losses that may come about due to the Illinois accident. Interested parties may wish to gather more information on such claims and the steps necessary for filing.
