Head-on collisions are often serious accidents that can take place in the blink of an eye. These accidents can occur under various conditions, such as a driver momentarily crossing the dividing line on a roadway or losing control and veering into on-coming traffic. Nonetheless, such a car accident can often cause serious or fatal injuries, and after this type of event, a family may wish to consider filing a wrongful death claim.

It was recently reported that an accident in Illinois resulted in the death of one individual. The car crash took place when a driver traveling south did not remain in the correct lane. When the vehicle moved into the opposite lane of travel, it collided with a vehicle traveling north. The incident took place at approximately 5 p.m.

The crash caused the driver of the northbound vehicle to suffer fatal injuries. He was transported from the scene to an area hospital, but he did not survive. The driver of the other vehicle was taken from the scene by helicopter. It was not clear what type of injuries that individual may have suffered. The accident was still under investigation at the time of this report.

Fatal accidents can often cause a myriad of effects that a victim's family will likely have to handle. It is probable that they will face emotional hardships due to their loss as well as monetary difficulties due to funeral costs and other expenses. If the family of this Illinois victim feels that seeking compensation for those damages could be right for them, they may wish to learn more about filing a wrongful death claim against the driver considered at fault.
