Because it is not unusual for car accidents to result in fatal injuries, families across the country can face an unexpected loss at any time. These sudden incidents could lead to emotional and financial struggles that could not have been planned for, and families may be uncertain as to how to move forward. However, in some instances, individuals may have cause to seek compensation by filing a wrongful death claim.

A recent accident in Illinois was reported as having involved two vehicles and led to the deaths of two individuals. Apparently, one of the vehicles was traveling west and the other vehicle was traveling the opposite direction when the collision occurred. Details on how the accident took place were not provided in the report. The incident took place at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Both drivers had to be removed from the vehicles by emergency crews, and they both suffered fatal injuries in the crash. There were no other individuals involved. The victims were reported as being a 64-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man. It was unclear who may have been at fault for the incident, and authorities are continuing to investigate.

Once authorities determine which driver may have been responsible for the incident, it is possible that legal action could result. The family of the victim not deemed at fault for the crash may wish to file a wrongful death claim against the estate of the other driver. Such a claim could help them pursue compensation for funeral expenses, emotional challenges and other damages allowable under Illinois law.
