Belleville car accident sends pregnant woman to hospital

| Dec 29, 2011 | Car Accidents

Residents of St. Clair County know that, when the level of traffic increases during the holiday season, more car accidents tend to occur. The greater frequency of crashes may be due to the increased number of vehicles on the road, or it may also be due to other reasons, such as driver inattention or increased alcohol consumption. Indeed, sometimes the cause of a car accident is not initially apparent, requiring a closer investigation by police and other concerned parties. Such would seem to be the case in a crash that occurred on Dec. 20.

According to Belleville Police, two women had to be taken to a hospital after being involved in a two-vehicle collision. The car accident took place around 6:30 in the evening and happened at the intersection of Illinois 161 and Frank Scott Parkway in Belleville. Police reported that one of the women was pregnant, but no information was released on her or the other woman’s current condition.

Given the limited amount of information that was released concerning the crash, it is impossible at this time to determine who might have been at fault. Both vehicles had to be towed away, with one having had its passenger-side door ripped off. In short, there was extensive damage done. Whether one driver or the other was speeding was also not indicated by a local news report.

In any case, when a car accident such as this occurs in St. Clair County, victims who are injured may have certain legal options to explore. These options are often exercised through civil legal proceedings. In some cases, injured victims may be able to receive compensation for medical expenses, property damage, lost wages, or any pain and suffering that may have resulted from the crash.
