Police are investigating the details of a horrific car accident that ended the life of a young Illinois boy and his mother. The car accident happened on Lake Shore Drive where reports indicate that the car being driven by the mother veered from the northbound lanes into on-coming traffic. The car struck another vehicle after losing control and crossing the median. There were two other victims of this car accident that suffered critical injuries and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
It is unclear at this time what caused the 39-year-old mother to lose control of the car that she was driving. Witnesses reported hearing the car accident and described the sound of tires screeching and the cars colliding. Several of these witnesses were people who happened to be nearby when the crash happened, and who then attempted to come to the rescue of the victims.
This horrible tragedy has left a community reeling. Not only did a young family die in this car accident, but also two others suffered serious injuries. Car accidents involving children are often very difficult for those involved at the scene, adding to the trauma. This tragedy has affected multiple families and a community who must now strive to move forward.
When Illinois drivers or passengers fall victim to such a car accident, they may discover that they face weeks or even months before they can fully recover.
