Horrific Illinois car accident claims the life of 4-year-old girl

On Behalf of | Sep 21, 2012 | Car Accidents

A collision has ended in the nightmare of parents everywhere, as a 4 year-old child died on an Illinois roadway. The child died in the car accident after she was ejected from the vehicle in which she was riding and became trapped. Also injured were passengers in both vehicles involved.

Illinois officials believe that the SUV containing the child who was killed and others was traveling westbound on a local roadway when it was struck by a car. The car, early reports indicate, failed to stop at a stop sign as the two vehicles came into the intersection. The impact caused the car and the SUV to hit a guardrail before coming to a stop.

Unfortunately, the young girl who died in this car accident was pinned between the guardrail and a vehicle as a result of the violence of the impact. Eyewitnesses to the crash attempted to help the child before rescuers arrived. In their attempts, they attempted to lift the car off of the girl. An adult and another child in the SUV with her sustained minor injuries but are expected to make a recovery.

The family of this young girl who died so tragically has suffered a horrific loss that cannot be repaid. Now, as they move forward with the grieving process this family must face the expense of burying their little loved one. They may have recourse however if it is confirmed that the driver of the other vehicle was at fault in the car accident, and therefore the girl’s death. In accidents where a life is lost due to the negligent actions of another, the surviving family may be able to file a civil suit against said driver to recover damages. These damages may help families such as this one rest easier and focus on their family, not their finances.
