Car accident in Illinois ends in injury and death

On Behalf of | Dec 20, 2012 | Car Accidents

A stolen car and a hit-and-run accident preceded a fatal crash, according to reports from Illinois authorities. The four-car accident that ended the string of incidents ended in the death of two individuals and injuries to several others. The details of the crash are still under investigation.

According to early reports, a woman was at the wheel of a stolen car when she was involved in a hit-and-run accident on an Illinois roadway. As she fled that crash, she entered another local road at a high rate of speed. There she came into contact with other vehicles, striking one head-on.

Witnesses reported that just prior to the car accident, the stolen car was travelling at a high rate of speed. This may have led to the violent impact that killed one victim and the driver of the stolen car. The others who were injured in the incident were taken to a local hospital where they received medical care.

Those who were victims of this unfortunate car accident have apparently suffered damage due to the actions of the driver of the stolen car. Because she appears to have been at fault for this crash, the woman’s estate may face liability for her actions. This action could include personal injury claims against the deceased woman’s estate that include damages such as pain and suffering, medical costs and lost wages. Though not every victim or survivor of an accident can make a claim for the damages caused in a crash, those who can present evidence that another person’s negligence caused or contributed to such an accident may be able to make a personal injury or wrongful death claim.
