A crash on an Illinois roadway ended the life of one woman and injured four more recently. The car accident occurred near Blue Mound on Illinois 48. The crash is under investigation by state authorities who hope to learn exactly what happened that tragic morning.

According to early reports, the car accident occurred as a Toyota Camry was passing through an intersection. It appears that the young driver of a Chrysler Sebring entered the highway without yielding to oncoming traffic. This action caused the driver to strike the Toyota containing the now-deceased victim. The drivers of both cars were injured, along with a 41-year-old man and a 3-year-old child.

The official investigation being conducted by state authorities will likely seek to determine why the 16-year-old driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic. As they do their inquiry, they may assess fault for the fatal car accident on the teenage driver. This could lead to liability for the death of the victim and injury to the others involved in the car accident.

In cases such as this car accident, it is possible for a driver to find that they are liable under our state's personal injury laws. These laws are intended to help victims of such incidents recover. Claims for damages made against drivers at fault can include pain and suffering, medical bills and lost wages. In cases such as this one where a victim died as a result of a crash, a wrongful death claim may come from the surviving members of the victim's family. To determine if someone is able to make such a claim, it may be important for him or her to review all applicable laws surrounding such actions in Illinois.
