An Illinois woman is dead after a recent weekend crash. The 58-year-old woman died after being taken to a local hospital by early responders. The fatal car accident also injured three other people, according to a report.
The events that led to the crash began when local officials were contacted and told that three men were attempting to break into cars parked at a church. When police approached the suspects, the men fled in a vehicle. As they fled, they smashed into the victim’s car.
The extent of the victim’s fatal injuries was not reported. After the incident, all of the men suspected of breaking into cars required medical care at a local hospital. As they recover from their injuries, they may find that they also face criminal allegations as a result of the car accident and the alleged break-ins.
In addition to the criminal charges, the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash may also discover that he faces liability for the death of the car accident victim. In fact, using Illinois personal injury laws could allow the surviving family of the victim to make claims such as lost wages and pain and suffering, in addition to trying to recover compensation for any medical and funeral costs. A wrongful death claim is often available to survivors of a person who died in a car accident as the result of the actions of another individual. To discover if they have an opportunity to seek a personal injury claim as a result of this car accident, the family may wish to review all applicable laws.
