A terrible incident happened on an Illinois roadway on a recent weekend evening. In the motorcycle accident on Highway 67, a couple lost their lives. The driver that is accused of smashing into them was unhurt in the crash.

Illinois police say that a 46-year-old man and 42-year-old woman were on a Harley Davidson when the motorcycle accident happened. As they waited at an intersection in the southbound lane, trying to make a left hand turn, a truck approached them. The vehicle failed to stop, smashing into the back of the bike.

The impact caused both people to be thrown from the motorcycle. They each died as a result of the injuries that they suffered in the incident. The young driver of the small truck that hit them has already been charged with failing to reduce speed, and it was not immediately clear if additional charges are contemplated.

The driver deemed responsible for the fatal motorcycle accident may now also find that he faces liability claims from the survivors of the victims under Illinois wrongful death laws. Such claims could come from survivors and include lost wages, funeral costs and pain and suffering of the victims. These types of personal injury claims are available to those who are injured in a crash such as this one, or to the surviving family members of those that are killed. To prevail, a plaintiff will need to establish by competent proof before a civil court that the driver negligently caused the fatal motorcycle accident.
