Workers in Illinois know that some jobs can be dangerous. This is especially true for those in our state who take on positions at construction sites or in mines. The good news, though, for those in these types of jobs is that the workers' compensation is there to help if they get injured.

In a recent incident that may be of interest to our readers in Illinois, a man died while working at a mine. The deceased worker appears to have been on the job at the mine, located in Eldorado. It is unclear what the man was doing in the moments prior to his untimely death.

Officials from the Mine Safety and Health Administration report that the man died of blunt force trauma when he was hit by a ram car. The vehicle was traveling through a ventilation curtain when the accident happened. The mine that employed the deceased man has been closed as a result of the unfortunate accident as an investigation into the death proceeds.

The workers' compensation program is intended to assist those who have been injured on the job in Illinois. In addition, when a death occurs, as happened here, it is the surviving family who is able to take advantage of the benefits. These benefits can include payments for the financial costs associated with the loss if a loved one in a work-related accident, and other payments. To determine eligibility, it is necessary for those who survive to apply, a sometimes complicated process that can benefit from experienced advice.
