Illinois car accident involves 8 people, kills 4

On Behalf of | Oct 1, 2013 | Car Accidents

A tragic incident claimed the lives of four people recently and injured four more. The car accident happened on a weekday morning on I-290 and Route 83. The crash caused a closure of several roadways and a slowdown of the busy morning commute. Now, the driver faces criminal charges for the fatal crash.

According to a report from Illinois officials, a car containing all of those involved in the car accident was traveling on the roadway near Addison Road just prior to the incident. It appears that those in the car were heading to a temporary work assignment when the incident occurred. The car may have been driving above the posted speed limit. For reasons that are as of yet unclear, the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Because of the driver’s loss of control of her car, the vehicle travelled into a nearby ditch. Once there, it rolled over, ejecting at least three of the women passengers. All of those who were ejected died in the incident. Those who remained in the car suffered injuries of varying degrees.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the car accident has been charged by Illinois officials with traffic crimes including improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed and driving with a suspended drivers license. In addition to the charges, the driver may also face personal injury liability for the crash. This liability can include the lost wages and pain and suffering of those who survived as well as claims for the wrongful death of the deceased victims.
