A tragic accident has claimed the life of one employee of the Illinois Department of Transportation after he suffered from severe work-related injury. The unfortunate accident took place while the man was performing his normal work duties. The work-related injury was caused by an accident when a vehicle struck him.

The accident report stated that the Illinois man was snow plowing the road in the moments leading up to the accident. The worker stopped to help a driver who was stuck in the snow. Another vehicle then hit the driver after losing control on the road and hitting the stopped vehicle.

His employer at the Illinois Department of Transportation has released a statement acknowledging that he was killed while doing his job. The increase of snow and ice that has plagued the Midwest has made certain jobs, such as keeping roads safe and clean, difficult and potentially dangerous. It is possible that the man was placed in a hazardous work condition because of his job requirement to plow the roads.

While the family is certainly still grieving the unexpected loss of the man, it is possible that they could be eligible for workers' compensation for the work-related injury or death. This type of settlement is usually given when there is substantiated proof that the man died unnecessarily. If the family wished to pursue workers' compensation or wrongful death compensation, they should gather any evidence or documentation that could substantiate the claims. A thorough evaluation of the entire case could reveal if the family of the deceased have any available options for legal recourse.
