Illinois car accident leaves 3 with serious injuries

On Behalf of | May 5, 2014 | Car Accidents

There are hundreds of millions of drivers across the country. For the most part, the vast majority of drivers make it from place to place without a major incident. Sometimes, a driver’s reaction to a minor incident — such as drifting slightly off the side of the road — can lead to a car accident and serious injuries. Three people in Illinois are left recovering from their injuries after such an incident was believed to have happened.

In mid-April, a sedan was traveling south on an Illinois road. Accident reports indicate that the car left the roadway on the right-hand side. The driver apparently overcorrected, causing the vehicle to enter the northbound lanes.

The car then struck a sedan head-on. Three people were transported by helicopter to a hospital for treatment. All had injuries that could potentially be fatal. The identities of the victims have yet to be disclosed, and it is unclear if criminal charges are anticipated.

Injuries suffered in a car accident such as this have an immediate financial impact, including medical bills and possibly lost wages during treatment and recovery. Unfortunately, such an accident could also have a long-term financial impact. Recovery could be extensive and painful, preventing a person from ever returning to work. The accident and injuries could also have a significant emotional impact on the victim, although an accident victim injured by someone else’s negligence can seek financial relief. Many people who have been able to successfully argue their case in an Illinois civil court have been awarded with damages as allowed under state law.
