Single-vehicle truck accidents can also be deadly

On Behalf of | Aug 31, 2014 | Truck Accidents

Single-vehicle accidents can be just as serious as crashes that involve multiple vehicles. Truck accidents can especially result in considerable damage due to the size of the vehicles. Semi-trucks typically carry heavy loads, and if a driver is unable to keep the truck under control, the weight of the vehicle could contribute to the severity of the crash, which could result in serious injuries.

A similar situation recently took place in Illinois when an accident involving one semi-truck occurred. It was reported that the truck was unable to remain on the roadway and traveled off the right side. As a result, the truck hit the ditch and overturned. It is not certain at this time what may have caused the truck to leave the roadway.

Unfortunately, the accident resulted in serious injuries to both individuals in the truck. The driver apparently suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at an area hospital. Information on the passenger of the truck was not available at the time of the report. The situation is currently still being investigated by authorities to determine what may have contributed to the accident.

As this situation shows, truck accidents can have devastating results. Though the driver did not survive the Illinois crash, the injured party may be able to recover from the serious injuries suffered in the accident. If the passenger does recover, he or she could potentially have numerous medical bills to contend with. As a result, the injured party may wish to consider filing a personal injury claim against the driver’s estate. Information on taking such actions could help the individual determine whether such a claim could be right for the situation.
