The deadly outcomes of some single-car accidents can be difficult for families of the victims to come to terms with. They may wonder how such a car accident could take place, but specific information may not be available until the authorities complete their investigations and reports. Though they may be waiting for details on the accident, decedents' families may wish to go ahead and find out more about whether they could potentially file wrongful death claims.

A recent accident in Illinois resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including the driver of the vehicle. It was reported that there were four occupants in a vehicle that was traveling west when the vehicle was unable to stay on the roadway. As a result, the vehicle traveled into a ditch and hit a tree and an embankment.

The crash led to the 21-year-old driver, a 21-year-old passenger and a 23-year-old passenger suffering fatal injuries. The fourth occupant was a 23-year-old male who was transported from the scene and is considered to be in critical condition. At the time of the report, authorities believed that failure to reduce speed likely contributed to the crash taking place. The investigation into the situation is still being conducted.

Receiving news of a fatal car accident may be something that devastates the victims' loved ones. Though they may want to focus on their grief, it is not uncommon for financial struggles resulting from funeral costs and other expenses to create a considerable amount of further stress on the situation. In order to potentially ease some of this burden, the families may want to consider filing wrongful death claims. Though the driver of the vehicle also died in the accident, information on filing a claim against an individual's estate in Illinois may be helpful.
