When individuals are in their early 20s, ideas about what will happen in the rest of their lives are often at the forefront of their thoughts. Some people may consider traveling or taking on a new job, and the idea of dying young may not be one that they give much credence too. Unfortunately, young people can just as easily be victims of a car accident as older individuals, and their lives can be cut short.

A head-on collision in Illinois recently led to the death of a 22-year-old woman. It was reported that the woman was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by another 22-year-old woman and that there was also a 20-year-old male passenger in the vehicle. A second vehicle did not remain in the correct lane and collided with the first vehicle.

The female passenger in the first vehicle suffered fatal injuries, and the male passenger was transported from the scene due to serious injuries. It was not mentioned whether the driver of that vehicle was injured. It was noted that two parties in the second vehicle were also taken to the hospital due to injuries. The driver of the second vehicle received a citation, and the investigation into the situation is still open.

Because the Illinois car accident resulted in a fatality, additional charges could potentially be filed against the driver of the second vehicle. If such charges do arise, the family of the deceased victim may wish to follow the criminal case. Should the driver be convicted of any possible charges, that information may be useful if the family wishes to file a wrongful death claim in order to seek compensation.
