Illinois car accident claims lives of both drivers involved

On Behalf of | Feb 13, 2015 | Car Accidents

When a car accident takes place, many people may hope that the outcome is not tragic. Sadly, many results of a car accident can be devastating, especially when more than one fatality occurs. If such an accident results in the drivers being killed, a victim’s family may still be able to file a civil claim to seek compensation against the estate of the driver considered responsible for the fatal crash.

A family in Illinois may be looking into such options after a crash killed both drivers involved. It was reported that a 24-year-old driver was traveling in the westbound lane when he moved into the eastbound lane. As a result of not maintaining the proper lane, the westbound vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle. It was not noted what may have caused the westbound driver to move out of the correct lane.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was declared dead where the accident took place. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital before she was also declared dead. There were no passengers in either vehicle. Investigators should continue to look into the fatal incident.

Two deaths from one car accident is an unfortunate situation. Though both drivers were killed in the Illinois crash, the family of the eastbound victim may still wish to seek compensation for their loss. They may have the option to do so by filing a wrongful death claim against the estate of the other driver. Because this type of situation may be somewhat complicated, information from individuals with legal knowledge may be constructive.
