Fatal Illinois accident could result in wrongful death claims

| May 21, 2015 | Wrongful Death

When a parent loses a child in an accident, it can be the most devastating day of that parent’s life. The aftermath of such an incident can bring about situations that can be difficult to face, such as making funeral arrangements and handling emotional and financial burdens. Under these circumstances, the parent may have reason to file a wrongful death claim against the party considered at fault.

A recent accident in Illinois resulted in the death of a teenager and another individual. It was reported that the teen was a passenger in a vehicle with other teenagers and that they had just left an after-prom party. While on the road, the 18-year-old driver failed to remain in the correct lane and crashed into an oncoming vehicle.

Sadly, the crash resulted in an 18-year-old passenger suffering fatal injuries, and another passenger in that vehicle was reported as being injured. The driver of the other vehicle also died. It was not reported whether the driver of the car suffered injuries, but it was noted that he tested positive for drugs. As a result, he has been charged with driving under the influence.

The families of the teenager and the other driver that died in this Illinois accident are likely shaken by the results of this event. Because such incidents can lead to considerable financial hardships, affected individuals may wish to consider seeking legal action. Filing wrongful death claims against the party or parties considered responsible may help individuals pursue compensation for damages.
