Pedestrian accidents are always events that individuals hope to avoid. Unfortunately, a car accident involving a pedestrian may take place at any given time. This type of situation can become even more difficult when the driver involved does not remain at the scene. However, authorities will likely find drivers involved in such events, and seriously injured parties may wish to take legal action.

It was recently reported that an Illinois accident involved a pedestrian. A 15-year-old boy was walking west in a crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle that was traveling north. After the collision, the driver of the vehicle put the car in reverse and left the scene. At the time of the report, authorities had not yet apprehended the driver.

The pedestrian was able to walk from the scene and call an ambulance. He was transported to an area hospital to be treated for the injuries he suffered in the accident. It was specifically noted that he suffered an injury to his hip, but he was able to walk around. Authorities are hoping that witnesses to the event will come forward in order to provide information.

Hit-and-run situations can be difficult for all the parties involved. However, once the driver is taken into custody, the victim of the car accident may be able to file a personal injury claim against the driver. Such a claim could help the injured party seek compensation for medical expenses and other damages that may have resulted from the Illinois pedestrian accident.
