Individuals who work with electricity know that it is important to be cautious while carrying out their duties. If an accident involving electricity takes place, serious injuries could result. Unfortunately, all accidents cannot be prevented, and in some cases, multiple workers could be injured in an unexpected event. If such a situation arises, those parties may be entitled to workers' compensation.

It was recently reported that an accident in Illinois led to the injuries of three workers. The workers were performing electrical work involving changing out electrical wires, apparently, outdoors. While performing their duties, the individuals came in contact with a live wire, which resulted in a serious situation. The incident resulted in area residents being without power for some time.

It was noted that the workers worked for a company that had been contracted to perform the work. Two of the injured workers were transported to an area hospital, and the third worker was airlifted to another medical facility. It was unclear what the extent of their injuries might have been. It was also not mentioned whether the Occupational Health and Safety Administration had opened an investigation into the incident at the time of the report.

Electrical accidents can cause lasting injuries to workers who come in contact with hot wires. The injuries can be quite severe and may require considerable recovery time. In addition to time away from work and possible lost wages, the injured workers may also be at risk of facing financial difficulties due to the medical bills related to their treatment. If parties are interested in learning more, they may want to look into workers' compensation benefits in Illinois to determine whether they may qualify for reimbursement.
