All too often, vehicles end up in dangerous situations that can injure the individuals inside. Drivers and passengers could easily become seriously or fatally injured if they are involved in a crash, and these injuries could occur under a variety of circumstances. If a car accident only involves one vehicle, there is still a considerable risk that the occupants of that vehicle could be gravely affected.

It was recently reported that a single-car accident in Illinois proved fatal. Reports indicated that the vehicle was traveling west when it went off the north side of the road. There is a curve in the area where the crash took place, and authorities are investigating to determine whether it could have played a role in the crash. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire.

There were at least three individuals in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, all three of those individuals suffered fatal injuries. Authorities were working to identify those victims at the time of the report. It was unclear whether alcohol or drugs may have contributed to the incident, but an investigation is still open.

Though the car accident resulted in the deaths of all the individuals involved, there is still a chance that legal action could result. Family members of the passengers killed in the crash may have cause to file wrongful death claims against the estate of the driver of the vehicle. If they feel this could be a step they might wish to take, gathering more information on such action in Illinois may help them in determining whether they wish to proceed in that manner.
