Car accidents involving pedestrians can often lead to harrowing outcomes. A pedestrian may be seriously or fatally injured, and the family of the victim may be left looking for ways to deal with the situation. In the event of such a fatal car accident, filing a wrongful death claim could be an option for affected family members to consider.

It was recently reported that an accident in Illinois involved a pedestrian. A 54-year-old woman was apparently trying to cross a street when she was hit by a car. The accident took place at approximately 5:30 in the morning. Further details regarding what may have led to the accident were not given in the report, but it was noted that toxicology tests were pending.

The incident caused the pedestrian to suffer fatal injuries, and she was pronounced dead about an hour after the accident. The driver of the vehicle apparently was not injured. That individual also remained on the scene of the incident, and at the time of the report, charges were not expected to be filed. However, authorities will likely continue to investigate the accident.

The family of the pedestrian killed in this car accident may want to find out more information on the incident. Additionally, they may want to understand which legal options may be available to them due to the tragic outcome of the accident. If they feel that negligence played a part in the accident, they may want to consider filing a wrongful death claim. This claim could allow them to work toward gaining compensation for their loss, their loved one's funeral expenses and other damages permitted under Illinois law.
