Losing a loved one under any circumstances can be difficult for the surviving family. When an individual suffers fatal injuries while on the job, the family could potentially be entitled to workers’ compensation benefits on behalf of the deceased worker. One family in Illinois may be looking into such information after a recent accident resulted in the death of a construction worker.
Reports stated that a 38-year-old man was on the job when the accident took place. He was working on the plumbing on the fourth floor on a tower at the time of the incident. It was reported that he was using pressurized air in order to test equipment. An object coming under pressure was apparently the cause of the fatal accident.
Apparently the object exploded after coming under pressure, and the man was struck in the face with an object. The injury caused the man to die instantly. The incident reportedly took place at 9:50 a.m., and the man was declared dead at 9:58 a.m. It was noted that the man was married and had three children at the time of his death.
Because this Illinois construction accident resulted in the death of the worker, the family will likely face many hardships in the near future. Along with the emotional challenges of losing a husband and father, the family may also face financial difficulties due to losing the man’s income. Therefore, the man’s wife may wish to explore workers’ compensation information to determine whether the family may qualify for survivor’s benefits on his behalf.
