Fatal accidents can cause considerable difficulties for families who lose a loved one. One family in Illinois may be experiencing monetary and emotional losses after a recent car accident led to the death of their loved one. Reports stated that a van was traveling east and attempted to make a left turn at an intersection when it was hit by a second van that was traveling west. This collision caused the two vans to strike a third vehicle that had been stopped at the intersection.
The incident resulted in the three drivers and a passenger in the first van being transported to the hospital. The passenger unfortunately succumbed to the injuries that she suffered in the accident. Reports stated that the victim was a 71-year-old female. The driver of the first van also suffered a broken leg.
It was unclear who may have been at fault for the fatal collision. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident to determine what factors may have played a role, and they will likely work to determine who had the right of way at the time of the crash. No charges or citations had been issued at the time of the report due to the pending investigation.
The family of the victim killed in this Illinois accident is surely grieving their sudden loss. In addition to emotional losses, the family may also have to deal with monetary hardships relating to funeral expenses and other damages resulting from the crash. If they would like to seek compensation for those damages, they may want to consider filing a wrongful death claim against the driver considered at fault.
