Motorcyclists know the enjoyment that can come from going for rides. Unfortunately, they likely also know that there is a considerable risk of motorcycle accidents occurring that could lead to individuals suffering serious or fatal injuries. Because motorcycles are less visible than larger vehicles and have less protection, the risk of accident involvement and injury is heightened.

It was recently reported that an accident in Illinois took place between an SUV and a motorcycle. The SUV was apparently traveling south when it attempted to make a left turn into a park. However, the motorcyclist was traveling north in the same area at the time, and the SUV struck the motorcycle while turning. The motorcyclist was reported as being a 42-year-old male, and the SUV driver was described as a 79-year-old male.

The collision caused the motorcyclist to suffer critical injuries. He was transported from the scene to a hospital, but he succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver of the SUV was apparently not injured, but his passenger was taken to the hospital. There were no charges reported as being filed at the time due to an investigation into the crash still being open.

Families who are affected by fatal motorcycle accidents may often feel at a loss as to how to handle the aftermaths. They often face daunting choices relating to funeral arrangements, and they may experience overwhelming emotions. Because these financial and emotional hardships can cause difficulties for surviving families, Illinois residents affected by such events may wish to file wrongful death claims in order to seek compensation for resulting damages.
