A recent crash in Illinois resulted in serious injuries for the drivers involved. It was reported that the car accident took place when a driver was traveling the wrong direction on a roadway and collided with a second vehicle. The driver of the first car was headed south in the northbound lanes at approximately 4 p.m. when the collision took place.

The driver of the second car was reported as being a woman, but her age and other identifying information were not given. The accident resulted in her suffering injuries to her lower body, and she was transported to an area hospital. It was noted that she was stabilized. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was reported as being a man, and he was also seriously injured. The injuries he suffered were not considered life threatening.

It is possible that alcohol played a role in the collision, but it was not confirmed at the time of the report. Authorities are likely still investigating the incident, and it was mentioned that charges are pending against the driver who was traveling the wrong direction. It was also noted that a third vehicle was involved in the incident, but only minor damage was sustained by that vehicle.

Because the wrong-way driver caused a car accident that resulted in injuries to another party, civil legal claims could potentially be brought against that individual. The driver of the second vehicle may wish to file a personal injury claim against the other driver in order to seek compensation. A successful claim could allow her to be awarded restitution for pain and suffering, medical bills and other damages permitted under Illinois law.
