Serious accidents: Illinois crash causes serious, fatal injuries

On Behalf of | Nov 26, 2015 | Truck Accidents

Traveling the roadway is a task that many individuals perform on a daily basis without contemplating the risk. However, serious accidents take place every day and can cause devastating outcomes to those involved. A recent crash in Illinois took place between a passenger car and a semi truck, and it resulted in one individual losing her life and two others being in critical condition.

Reports indicated that a 41-year-old woman was driving her vehicle north when she failed to remain on the roadway. She drove off the right side and hit a patch of loose gravel. In an apparent attempt to get back on the roadway, she overcorrected and hit the trailer of a semi truck that was also traveling north. There were three people in the car at the time of the accident.

The car driver did not survive the incident as she suffered fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the accident site. A 22-year-old woman and a 3-year-old girl who were passengers in the car were both seriously injured and considered to be in critical condition. The semi truck driver was also injured, but those injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Serious accidents such as this Illinois crash could lead to civil legal action. If the seriously injured parties wish to seek compensation for their medical bills and other damages, they may want to learn more about personal injury claims. Though the driver considered at fault for this accident died as a result, civil claims may still be filed against that individual’s estate. Information on taking such action may help interested parties in their decision-making process.
