Families may file wrongful death claims after Illinois accident

| Dec 12, 2015 | Wrongful Death

When pedestrians are on or near a roadway, they could potentially be at risk of being hit by a vehicle. If individuals are struck by a car, they will likely suffer serious injuries that could potentially prove to be fatal. If parties die as the result of such an accident, their families may wish to consider filing wrongful death claims if another individual is considered to be at fault.

It was recently reported that a fatal accident took place in Illinois that involved a vehicle and two pedestrians. Reports stated that the car was being driven by a 48-year-old man and was traveling west when the incident occurred. The two individuals were reported as being 18-year-old males who were trying to cross the roadway when they were hit by the car.

The two pedestrians were seriously injured, and they were taken to separate hospitals. One individual was declared dead at the hospital the day of the accident, and the second pedestrian succumbed to his injuries the next day. The driver of the car was not injured. At the time of the report, no citations had been given, and impairment was not suspected. The incident is still under investigation.

If the driver of the car is considered responsible for the fatal Illinois accident, the families of the deceased pedestrians may wish to seek compensation for their losses and resulting damages. Filing a civil claim could help them work toward gaining such restitution. If they wish to do so, gathering information on a wrongful death claim could help them determine whether such a step could suit their circumstances.
