A serious car crash that left one driver dead and another with serious injuries recently took place in Illinois. Reports indicated that a 25-year-old man was driving a car south when he attempted to pass a vehicle that was in front of him. While apparently completing this action, the driver lost control of his car and moved from the southbound lanes to the northbound lanes, where the car accident took place.

A 51-year-old woman was driving an SUV north at the time, and the man's car collided head on with the SUV. The incident took place around 6 p.m., and it was noted that it was snowing at the time. It was unclear at the time of the report whether the weather played a direct role in the accident.

The man and woman were both transported from the scene due to suffering injuries. Unfortunately, the man did not survive his injuries, and he was declared dead over an hour after the accident occurred. The woman was hospitalized and considered to be in serious condition. Toxicology tests were being conducted, but the results of those tests were not yet available at the time of the report.

The woman who was seriously injured in this Illinois car accident may be considering her legal options. Though the driver of the other vehicle died in the crash, the woman may still be able to file a civil claim against his estate in order to seek compensation. Information on personal injury claims and filing such a claim under these circumstances may help her determine whether that is a path she would like to follow.
