Truck accidents: Serious injuries result from Illinois crash

On Behalf of | Jan 12, 2016 | Truck Accidents

Many drivers know that coming upon a serious accident on the roadway can be an anxiety-inducing experience. That situation can be even more terrifying for the individuals who were involved in the collision. Truck accidents are notorious for causing severe damage and injuries, and a recent crash in Illinois was no exception. One individual was killed and another seriously injured.

It was reported that the driver of a semi-truck was traveling south when the truck failed to stay in the southbound lanes. The vehicle veered into the northbound lanes in front of an SUV and a pickup truck. The driver of the SUV was able to swerve in order to avoid a collision, but then semi hit the side of the pickup truck. The tractor trailer then overturned at least once before stopping upright.

The incident resulted in the truck driver suffering fatal injuries, and he was declared deceased at the crash site. The driver of the SUV was taken to an area hospital due to suffering a head injury, and the pickup truck driver was also transported from the scene with severe injuries. It was also noted that two passengers in the pickup were taken to the hospital.

Though the driver of the semi-truck died as a result of the crash, legal action may still be taken against that individual’s estate as well as the trucking company. The seriously injured survivors may wish to file personal injury claims against the parties deemed responsible for the incident in order to seek compensation for resulting damages. Similarly, other individuals who have been hurt in Illinois truck accidents may wish to look into their legal options as well.
