Tragic accidents happen all too often. It was recently reported that a woman was killed in a serious crash that took place in Illinois. There were three vehicles involved in the car accident, and a total of 10 people were spread among the vehicles. The incident took place at approximately 8 p.m.
It was reported that a 63-year-old man was driving an SUV eastbound when he failed to remain in the proper lane. He crossed into the opposite lanes of travel and collided with two other vehicles. There were two adults -- a man and a woman -- and four children in one vehicle and three teenagers in the other.
The adult woman was reported as being 34 years old, and she suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The adult man and children were transported from the scene to be treated for undisclosed injuries. The SUV driver was also injured and taken from the scene. The teens were not injured. It was noted that the SUV driver was cited for improper lane usage and driving an uninsured vehicle.
Due to the outcomes of the car accident, it is possible that the surviving loved ones of the deceased victim and the injured parties may have cause to file civil claims against the driver considered at fault. Wrongful death and personal injury claims could allow them to seek compensation for damages permissible under Illinois law. Additionally, all of those affected by this accident, whether injured or not, may wish to find out how the driver's uninsured status could affect their situation.
